I just ended an email message with, "I've got it under control."

I realized that that fools no one.  "I've got it under control" means, "Only an Act of God can keep it all from going to hell."  It's right up there with, "it's all good" and is only less convincing than "no worries."

...like the sound of a cork not popping.
