Two Days of Scheduling Madness

pixelart
Half a year ago, when Cirque Du Soleil announced that Ovo would be in the area mid February, my wife and I decided the kids were old enough to watch the show with us, and we bought four tickets.

Cut to mid February, and the Cirque show would be on February 12th, and February 14th was not on Valentine's Day but Chinese New Year's, and February 15 is Family Day (or President's Day for those of you in the U.S.A.), and the beginning of the week the kids would be out of school, so we planned a trip to Disneyland.

Since I'd be away for a week from work, I made a promise to my colleagues that I'd deliver a feature that they could use while I was away. But I'd already committed to the Cirque show on Friday afternoon.  This also left precious little time for cleaning the house before New Year's, which is very important.

This is how it's gone/going down:

Friday: Went to work, cut out at 2:30pm for Ovo and Thai dinner with the family, made sure they were happy, returned to work and stayed there until 12:00am.  (Made sure they were happy, too.)
Saturday: Had grandfather over to spend time with the kids, went to romantic Valentine's day dinner with wife at La Fondue, picked up some items for vacation, and returned home to make crazy love, change into dirty clothes and scrub the toilet and clean the bathroom until past 11:00pm.  Showered and celebrated Chinese New Year's in a clean house right at 12:00am.
Sunday: Packing, and hopefully wife will get some sleep before she goes to work at 11:00pm (night shift), and when she returns home from a long night's work, we'll all pack into the car and I'll drive us down to Disneyland Monday morning.

Phew.

Abraham Lincoln was wrong: you can please all the people all of the time!

Have a great time at Disneyland!

Pleasing all the people all the time? Sort of. The clean bathroom did please the Missus, but the crossed out activity would have pleased me, too. Let's not forget me!

We'll all love Disneyland!

Holy crud that's a lot of activity in a short period of time. I can't imagine when you two managed to sleep!

In any event, have a great time on vacation, have a Happy Valentine's Day, and have a very happy New Year!

It's not so much that it was a lot of activity, it's the strange timing of the activities. Going to work late on a Friday night? (Couldn't change the Cirque show's time, could I?) Cleaning a bathroom late on a Saturday night - after a romantic dinner? (Given the family obligations that day, that's the only time it fit in.)
